CONGRATULATIONS to 2020 Homecoming Royalty:
King Brady Wachholz and Queen Hayden Glander!
Dear Central HS and MS Families,
I want to thank you for your support and cooperation today as we had to quickly pivot to distance learning for the day and I’d like to update you for tomorrow.
6th-12th grade students will be back in session tomorrow and will pick up on the regularly scheduled day on the hybrid calendar. (Group A in person)
Central was able to secure lunch service with our provider beginning tomorrow through Nov. 10. We will provide bag lunch option for free for any student who wants one. I’m going to be honest, this is going to be a very basic lunch: a pre-packaged sandwich, a fruit/veggie, and milk.
Again, thank you to families for the ability to move plans quickly and we look forward to getting students back here tomorrow.
In Partnership,
Timothy Schochenmaier
Superintendent

Good Evening Central HS and MS,
Central Schools just learned that one of our food service workers tested positive for COVID-19. Carver County Public Health concluded all kitchen staff at the HS and MS are considered "close contacts" and need to quarantine for 14 days.
Central Schools students in grades 6-12 who were scheduled to attend in person tomorrow will be at home for the day, Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020. Because we are not able to offer lunch tomorrow, we are not able to be in session per guidance from our Regional COVID Support Team.
I am working with our food service company and they have a plan in place to resume bag lunches beginning Wednesday. Please note that a-la-carte will not be available until Nov. 10, the same day our hot lunch program will resume at the MS and HS.
I want to reiterate that this one day distance learning is not due to exposure to students or staff. Staff will still need to report for work, students will still be able to participate in sports and after school activities regularly scheduled for tomorrow.
This does not affect the elementary in any way. Elementary students will have regular class tomorrow.
I'm sorry for any stress this may cause families.
Tim Schochenmaier
Superintendent

Greetings Middle School and High School Families,
As we continue to progress through the year and become more familiar with our hybrid learning model, we wanted to send out some additional attendance information so that our parents, students, and school staff are on the same page regarding our hybrid model.
For our hybrid learners, the expectation is that students who are scheduled to attend classes in person on a given A or B day should physically be in those classes.
**Students cannot just decide to work from home on a given day. ** Teachers will be taking in class attendance based on which day (A or B) it is, and marking student's attendance accordingly. For instance, if a student is supposed to be in class on a given day, but has chosen to work from home, the student will be marked absent unexcused. It is important to make sure that all our students are following their proper schedules so that our attendance and record keeping is as accurate as possible.
As always, if your child needs to be absent for an excused reason (dental appt., dr. appt., college visit, etc....), we ask that parents continue to call the office and excuse their student, as in the past. This will help us continue to manage our attendance practices as we move through the school year.
Thank you,
Tom Erickson
High School Principal
Ron Erpenbach
Middle School Principal

Winter has arrived it seems. That may have been one of the shortest falls I can remember. I just chalk it up to 2020!
The weather actually is the reason for my message today as I have a bit of an unusual request. On Friday, our football team is supposed to host a game at Central High School. As I am writing this, there is about 4 inches of heavy snow on the varsity field and the turf is not yet frozen.
This combination of circumstances makes it so we can not bring snow removal equipment onto the field without doing thousands of dollars of damage to the turf. We have attempted to use snow blowers, it just pushes the snow.
It is supposed to rain tomorrow and we hope it melts all the snow. If it doesn’t, I am asking any available citizen with a shovel and/or wheelbarrow to come to Braun Field at 5pm on Thursday, October 22 to assist in removing the snow by hand.
We will be monitoring the situation and give an update at 4pm tomorrow on our Facebook page. If all goes well, we will be able to host the game at Central (Plan A).
Central does have a back-up plan for the game. Jordan Public Schools has graciously offered to host our game at their site. They have artificial turf and are able to remove the snow. If our field is not in the condition to play or if we are unable to remove the snow, we will host our game at Jordan on Saturday time TBD (Plan B).
RESCHEDULED VOLLEYBALL GAMES:
9-12 volleyball games with LeSuer have been moved to Saturday. 10/24/20.
