WORKING TOGETHER FOR A BETTER TOMORROW The newly formed Norwood Young America Community Fund (NYACF) recently made a $200 contribution to the Central Elementary School Raider Room at Central Elementary. The Raider Room began in 2018 when a group of teachers saw kids sitting in the lunchroom without a snack and took action to find a way to ensure all can have the basics needed to help them succeed in school. Since that humble start, the Raider Room has added clothes, shoes, boots coats, and school supplies to list of items available. The Raider Room will use the NYA Community Fund donation to buy shoes and winter boots. Congratulations to the 2023 Congressional App Challenge winners for Minnesota's 6th Congressional District: Rebecca Sandeen and Emily Romero Their app called Accessify: is an app designed to assist deaf and hard of hearing individuals to communicate their needs to others. Rebecca and Emily designed this app as part of the Technovation Challenge. The Congressional App Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives, where Members of Congress host contests in their districts for middle school and high school students, encouraging them to learn to code and explore computer science. Each participating Member of Congress selects a winning app from their district, and each winning team is invited to showcase their winning app to Congress during the annual #HouseOfCode festival at the US Capitol. This year there were 3,645 original applications submitted and of these 374 of them were chosen by members of Congress participating in the challenge.

Congratulations to Central's Teacher of the Year, Lindsay Hanish. Lindsay has been teaching Special Education for 17 years, and has been teaching at Central for the past four. We are lucky to have so many wonderful educators like Lindsay in our district!
